Puerto Plata fishing report 11/12/09 We went out
for a short day on the Viejita yesterday just to catch some dinner We heard there was a huge school of dorado's/mahi mahi a little north of the Sosua village so we heading out around 8:30 am We reached the fishing place about 9:20 am and there were Dorado's jumping all over the place not to big in size but We were not looking for size yesterday just some tender meat so we starting jigging and casting dead(ballyhoos)bait and one after another landed about 20 Dorado all about 10-20 lbs after that we made some fresh sauce then heading to shore for a mahi barbecue. The sailfishes are still hitting hard north of the bank are averaging 60-75 lbs and the dorados are averaging 40-60 lbs. Inside the bay there are lots of bonitos , grouper, and wahoos. So if you want to catch big game fish you need a 8-10 hour day on 8 hour day you can catch as many Dorado's as you can handle and the shorter day in the bay You will get lots of action. But the big season in Puerto Plata is coming and those dorado tuna and big Sail fish will be here during the winter time ! For more information contact Peter at first class fishing charter Capt.Gary.
